History of Monteria

Montería is a city in the department of Córdoba in northern Colombia. The population is estimated at 516,000 inhabitants. Monteria is 16 meters above sea level and has a tropical savannah climate with an average annual temperature of 27°C.

The city was founded on May 1, 1777. The strongest industrial sectors of Montería are agriculture, livestock, fisheries and the service sector. The city is a major producer of rice, cassava, cotton and ranching. The service sector is also growing, with a focus on tourism.

How to get to Monteria?

By plane

The easiest and most comfortable way to get to Montería is by plane. The city has its own airport, Los Garzones Airport (MTR), which is about 10 minutes from the city center. Montería is well connected to other cities in Colombia by a bus network. Several bus companies, such as Expreso Brasilia and Copetran, run daily buses from major cities such as Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena to Montería. The easiest way to buy tickets is through Pinbus.

By car
